Within dialysis devices, PORSELF™ components function both as flow-regulating filters and media support elements. During normal operation, the open porous structure allows consistent and uniform fluid flow. When exposed to excess liquid or saturation conditions, the material reacts by swelling and sealing, preventing unwanted fluid migration or media loss within the system.

Function & Working Principle

Normal Operation (No Liquid Contact):
When not in contact with waste liquid, the PORSELF™ PE sintered filter allows controlled ventilation and air filtration. Negative pressure from the hospital suction system draws clinical waste liquid into the bottle efficiently. During this phase, the filter captures dust, bacteria, and airborne contaminants, effectively reducing the risk of cross-infection.
Automatic Self-Sealing (Liquid Contact):
When the suction bottle becomes full and waste liquid reaches the filter, the PORSELF™ self-sealing PE sintered filter activates instantly. The porous structure closes off, blocking the passage of all liquids and gases and stopping overflow or backflow immediately.
